Friend of the Devil

by Peter Robinson

Signed first Canadian edition and first printing of Friend of the Devil by Peter Robinson, published in hardcover by McClelland & Stewart in 2007. This is the seventeenth novel in the Inspector Banks crime series and precedes the later American and British editions.

The story follows two disturbing murder investigations: Alan Banks examines the rape and strangulation of a young woman found in Eastvale’s Maze, while Annie Cabbot investigates the killing of a disabled woman discovered in her wheelchair on a seaside cliff. What initially appear to be separate crimes lead the detectives toward past violence, vengeance, and an increasingly dangerous search for two killers. The novel reached number one on the Sunday Times hardcover bestseller list and was shortlisted for the 2009 Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year.

The title page is signed and personally inscribed by Peter Robinson. The inscription appears to be addressed to Ken, although portions of the handwritten message are difficult to decipher. The copyright page has a complete number line beginning with 1 and ending with 07, identifying this copy as a first printing of the 2007 Canadian edition.

Hardcover with dust jacket in Very Good overall condition, as stated by the seller. Light dust jacket edge wear is visible, especially near the upper spine area, while the photographed title and copyright pages remain intact. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
