The Golden Mean

by Annabel Lyon

This 2009 Random House Canada hardcover edition of The Golden Mean by Annabel Lyon is a fourth printing of the Canadian first-edition issue. The book includes its illustrated dust jacket, which is protected in a removable clear plastic cover, and features deckle-edged pages.

Lyon’s acclaimed historical novel reimagines the relationship between Aristotle and his young pupil Alexander, bringing the political intrigues and intellectual life of ancient Macedonia into a vivid first-person narrative. The Golden Mean won the 2009 Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize and was shortlisted for both the Scotiabank Giller Prize and the Governor General’s Literary Award for Fiction.

This copy is signed and personally inscribed by Annabel Lyon on the title page to Barbara, Gerry and Geoffrey Cornish. It is a presentation inscription rather than a flat signature.

Page toning is present, and the dust jacket shows light visible edge wear beneath its removable protective cover. The rear jacket flap, which includes an author portrait and biographical text, appears intact. The book is illustrated and retains its distinctive deckle-edged pages.
