Battle of the Atlantic

by Ted Barris

Battle of the Atlantic: Gauntlet to Victory by Canadian military historian Ted Barris. This 2022 first edition, first printing hardcover was issued by Patrick Crean Editions, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers Ltd, and retains its pictorial dust jacket.

Barris recounts Canada's role in the long struggle to protect Allied shipping across the North Atlantic during the Second World War. The narrative follows the expansion of the Royal Canadian Navy, the defence of vital convoys, the threat posed by German U-boats, and the experiences of the sailors, aircrew, merchant mariners, and civilians involved. The book includes a foreword by Gordon Laco, RCN (Ret'd), and is extensively illustrated with historical black-and-white photographs.

This copy is signed by Ted Barris and contains a personalized inscription to Robert. Several additional handwritten signatures or notations also appear on the title page; their identities have not been independently established and they are presented as shown in the photographs.

Very Good overall, with light visible handling and edge wear to the dust jacket. The photographed interior spread appears clean and bright. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description and show the actual copy offered. The book will be packaged carefully for protection in transit.
