Vacationland

by John Hodgman

Vacationland: True Stories from Painful Beaches is John Hodgman’s humorous and reflective collection of autobiographical essays about middle age, family life, privilege, and his experiences in Western Massachusetts and coastal Maine. Departing from the invented facts of his earlier books, Hodgman turns his dry wit toward the awkward realities of adulthood and the unforgiving landscapes that frame his stories.

Published by Viking in 2017, this hardcover has a complete number line identifying it as a first printing of the original U.S. hardcover edition. Vacationland won the New England Book Award and was a finalist for the Thurber Prize for American Humor.

This copy is personally inscribed “For Marcy!” and signed by John Hodgman on the title page, with the date 2018. The printed author name has been crossed through as part of the signed presentation. Bold ink from the inscription and signature shows through prominently onto the reverse copyright page.

Hardcover with dust jacket in Very Good condition as graded by the seller, with light visible jacket handling or edge wear. The illustrated author-biography page pictured appears bright and clean, though it represents only the page shown. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description and show the actual copy offered.
