Paul's scholarly biography reconstructs the transnational life of writer, teacher, and school owner Eliza Fenwick, a member of Mary Wollstonecraft's radical London circle. Drawing on Fenwick's correspondence, the book follows her work as an author of children's literature and her later life in Barbados, the United States, and Canada. The volume contains black-and-white illustrations, including reproduced historical material.
