Polar Passage

by Jeff MacInnis & Wade Rowland

Polar Passage: The Historic First Sail Through the Northwest Passage by Jeff MacInnis with Wade Rowland, published in Toronto by Random House of Canada in 1989. This first-edition hardcover is accompanied by its illustrated dust jacket and contains maps, colour photographs and an index across 186 pages.

The book recounts the remarkable Canadian Arctic expedition undertaken by MacInnis and photographer Mike Beedell aboard their specially prepared 18-foot catamaran, Perception. Their multi-season journey covered approximately 4,000 kilometres through the Northwest Passage and demanded that the boat be sailed, dragged and moved through exceptionally challenging ice and weather conditions.

This copy is personally inscribed to Cheryl and signed by Jeff MacInnis on the title page. The inscription includes his motivational phrase, “Dream-Dare-Do,” followed by a large stylized signature.

The dust jacket displays light rubbing, scuffing and minor edge and corner wear, including small areas of white wear near the lower corners. The photographed title/signature page and copyright-page areas appear clean and free of obvious staining or highlighting. Please review the photographs for the copy’s appearance and the full inscription.
