Amy Tan

Amy Tan (born February 19, 1952) is an iconic American novelist, memoirist, and essayist whose evocative, decades-spanning narratives have profoundly shaped contemporary Asian-American literature. Born in Oakland, California, to parents who fled the Chinese Civil War, she grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and earned her Master’s degree in linguistics from San Jose State University.
