Karsh Canadians by Yousuf Karsh, published by University of Toronto Press in 1978. This is the hardcover reprint issued in the same year, complete with its distinctive red pictorial dust jacket. The substantial volume contains 203 pages and 79 full-page black-and-white portrait plates.
Karsh presents an alphabetical gallery of prominent Canadians drawn from public life, literature, art, science, entertainment and other fields. Each portrait is accompanied by commentary, making the volume both a major collection of Karsh’s carefully lit portrait photography and a visual record of twentieth-century Canadian cultural and civic life. The book measures approximately 30.5 x 24.8 x 2.5 cm and weighs about 1.65 kg.
