Generations of Women: In Their Own Words is a 1998 Chronicle Books hardcover featuring photographs by Mariana Cook and an introduction by Jamaica Kincaid. This is a first printing, identified by the complete 10-to-1 number line on the copyright page. The illustrated hardcover was designed without a dust jacket.
This substantial photobook brings together black-and-white portraits of mothers, daughters and grandmothers, with some family groups spanning as many as five generations. The photographs are accompanied by the women's own reflections on family ties, inherited wisdom, identity, perseverance and the experiences shared across generations.
