Hitler's Silent Partners
A flat-signed first Canadian edition of Hitler's Silent Partners: Swiss Banks, Nazi Gold, and the Pursuit of Justice by investigative journalist Isabel Vincent. Published by Alfred A. Knopf Canada in 1997, this is a hardcover copy with its dust jacket. Vincent has signed the title page above her printed name, without a visible dedication or inscription.
Vincent examines how Swiss banks handled assets deposited by Jewish families and gold looted by Nazi Germany, as well as the long postwar struggle to uncover dormant accounts and secure restitution. The history is given a human dimension through Holocaust survivors and others involved in the campaign for disclosure and justice. Photographs, archival documents, notes, a bibliography, and an index supplement the narrative.
The book received the 1998 Yad Vashem Prize in Holocaust History at the Canadian Jewish Book Awards. It remains a notable work on Holocaust-era financial history, Swiss banking secrecy, looted assets, and the pursuit of restitution.
The seller grades this copy Very Good. The dust jacket displays light edge and corner wear, with mild wear around the spine ends. A representative illustrated interior spread is shown and appears clean and legible without obvious annotation in the photographed area. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
