作者:Shelagh D. Grant

Arctic Justice: On Trial for Murder, Pond Inlet, 1923 by Shelagh D. Grant, published in hardcover by McGill-Queen's University Press in 2002. This illustrated historical study includes photographs, maps, bibliographical references, and an index.

Grant reconstructs the killing of Newfoundland trader Robert Janes and the resulting prosecution of Nuqallaq and two other Inuit men. Drawing upon archival research and Inuit oral testimony, the book examines the collision between Inuit customary law and Canadian criminal justice, while placing the case within the wider history of North Baffin Island and Canada's assertion of Arctic sovereignty. The book received the Canadian Historical Association's 2003 Clio Prize for Northern Canadian History.

This copy is flat signed by Shelagh D. Grant on the title page and dated 17 April 2003. There is no visible dedication or named recipient.

Hardcover with dust jacket in Very Good condition, as graded by the seller. The representative copyright/cataloguing page shown appears free of obvious writing, staining, or tearing in the photographed area. Please review all photos carefully, as they form part of the description.
