No Time to Wave Goodbye
No Time to Wave Goodbye by Ben Wicks, published in hardcover by Stoddart in 1988. This illustrated historical work gathers the memories and personal experiences of British children evacuated from their homes during the Second World War, presenting the upheaval through recollections, narrative and period photographs. The book includes an introduction by actor and former evacuee Michael Caine.
This copy is signed and inscribed by Ben Wicks in blue ink. The photographed signed page also includes lively cartoon-like doodles characteristic of an illustrator’s inscription; portions of the handwriting are cropped or difficult to decipher, so please consult the close-up photograph for the exact inscription and artwork.
Hardcover with the original pictorial dust jacket, graded Very Good by the seller. Light shelf and edge wear is visible around the jacket extremities. The pictured copyright page is clear and legible, while the representative interior spread shows the book’s black-and-white photographic illustration and appears generally clean without visible tears or reader annotation in the area shown.
A compelling signed Canadian edition for collectors of Ben Wicks, Second World War social history, evacuation narratives and illustrated historical nonfiction. The book will be packaged carefully for shipment. Please review all photographs closely, as they form part of the description and show the actual copy offered.
