The Art of Medicine
The Art of Medicine: Healing and the Limits of Technology by Dr. Herbert Ho Ping Kong with Michael Posner, published by ECW Press in 2014. This is the first edition, first printing hardcover in its original dust jacket, with the complete number line visible on the copyright page.
Drawing on five decades of clinical experience, renowned diagnostician Herbert Ho Ping Kong considers what technology can and cannot provide in medical practice. Through patient cases, interviews, and reflections from medical colleagues, the book emphasizes observation, listening, touch, empathy, communication, and advocacy as essential parts of humane, patient-centred care. Ho Ping Kong was later appointed to the Order of Ontario in recognition of his contributions to medical education and diagnostic medicine.
This copy is signed and personally inscribed by Herbert Ho Ping Kong on the title page and dated “10/9/14” as written. Because the handwritten date could follow either day/month or month/day order, it has not been interpreted further.
Very Good overall. There is small coffee stain at the bottom page edge; otherwise, the book is nice and clean. The dust jacket has light edge and corner wear and is now protected in a removable clear plastic cover. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
