City of Ice
City of Ice by John Farrow, published by HarperCollins Publishers Ltd. in 1999. This Canadian hardcover is a first edition and first printing, as confirmed by the edition statement and number line ending in 1. It retains its dust jacket, which is now housed in a removable clear plastic protective cover.
Set against a bitter Montreal winter, the novel introduces Sergeant-Detective Émile Cinq-Mars, an unconventional investigator drawn into escalating violence involving motorcycle gangs, organized crime, corruption, and an international criminal conspiracy. The atmospheric police thriller launched the long-running Émile Cinq-Mars series and was a finalist for both the Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction and the 2000 Arthur Ellis Award for Best Novel.
This copy is signed and inscribed by John Farrow directly on the title page. The handwriting forms a lengthy presentation-style inscription followed by a large signature, rather than a flat signature.
The seller grades the book Very Good. Light edge and corner wear is visible on the photographed dust jacket, and the jacket is protected in a removable clear cover. The author inscription occupies much of the title page. Please review the photographs for the appearance and placement of the inscription and the visible jacket condition.
