The Night Canada Stood Still

作者:罗伯特·赖特 (Robert Wright)

A signed first-edition, first-printing hardcover of The Night Canada Stood Still: How the 1995 Quebec Referendum Nearly Cost Us Our Country by Canadian historian Robert Wright, published by HarperCollins in 2014. The complete number line on the copyright page confirms the first printing.

Wright reconstructs the political drama surrounding Quebec's October 30, 1995 sovereignty referendum, a watershed vote decided by an extraordinarily narrow margin. The book became a national bestseller and received both the Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Award and the Lela Common Award for Canadian History.

This copy contains a handwritten presentation inscription and is signed by Robert Wright on the title page. The photograph is cropped, so the recipient and complete wording of the inscription cannot be transcribed confidently.

Hardcover with dust jacket, now protected in a removable clear plastic cover. There is notable page toning, and the fourth photograph documents a pronounced vertical tear or split beginning at the top edge of an interior page and continuing downward through several lines of text, with associated creasing or wrinkling. The dust jacket also shows light visible edge and corner wear. Please review the photographs closely for the exact condition and appearance of this copy.
