McClure: The China Years of Dr. Bob McClure

by Munroe Scott

McClure: The China Years is Munroe Scott’s biography of Dr. Robert “Bob” McClure, a Canadian missionary surgeon whose early life and medical career were closely tied to China. The narrative follows McClure through the upheavals of early twentieth-century China, combining biography, missionary and medical history, and first-hand adventure.

This 1979 third printing is double signed by members of the McClure family. The title page has been warmly inscribed to Rennie, signed by Robert B. McClure, and dated Nov. 10/85. The printed dedication page, “To Amy and Hilda,” is additionally signed by Amy A. McClure. The book is not shown as signed by author Munroe Scott.

Hardcover with dust jacket, now protected by clear removable plastic. The book appears solid and is in Good condition, with age-related toning to the pages and a few spots on the page edges. The dust jacket has noticeable edge and corner wear, creasing, small chips and tears, and a darkened or repaired area at the lower rear corner. A previous owner’s name on the front endpaper has been blacked out. Please review the photographs closely for the inscriptions and condition details.

A collectible Canadian biography with appealing medical, missionary, and China-history content, enhanced by the two McClure signatures. The book will be carefully packed to help protect both the volume and its worn original dust jacket in transit.
