A signed first Canadian edition, first printing of Warlight by Michael Ondaatje, published in hardcover by McClelland & Stewart in 2018. The complete number line confirms the first printing, and the book retains its illustrated dust jacket.
Set primarily in postwar London, the novel follows teenage siblings Nathaniel and Rachel after their parents leave them in the care of a mysterious guardian known as the Moth. Their unusual new world is populated by shadowy figures whose connections to espionage, wartime loyalties and their mother’s concealed history emerge gradually as Nathaniel looks back on his youth. Warlight was longlisted for the 2018 Man Booker Prize.
This copy is signed and briefly inscribed by Michael Ondaatje on the title page. The dedication begins with “To,” although the recipient wording is difficult to decipher from the photograph. The large author signature extends across the lower portion of the page.
