Barney's Version

by Mordecai Richler

Flat-signed copy of Barney’s Version by celebrated Canadian author Mordecai Richler. Richler has signed the title page in black ink without an inscription. This is the First Vintage Canada Edition, published in 1998, and the complete number line identifies it as a first printing of that edition.

Richler’s comic and satirical novel takes the form of Barney Panofsky’s memoir, written to answer accusations made by an old rival. Through Barney’s account of his marriages, friendships, family, career and increasingly uncertain memory, the novel becomes both an irreverent self-portrait and a poignant exploration of love and aging. It won the 1997 Giller Prize, the 1998 Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour and the 1998 Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for Best Book in the Canada and Caribbean region.

Softcover copy in Very Good condition. Minor shelf and edge wear and a few small surface rubs or scuffs are visible on the covers. The photographed title and copyright pages appear clean, and the cover is now protected by clear removable plastic.

Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description and show the actual copy offered for sale.
