Saul Rubinek

Saul Rubinek (born July 2, 1948) is a highly prolific Canadian actor, director, producer, playwright, and author whose multi-decade career spans Hollywood blockbusters, independent theater, and deeply personal historical documentation. Born to Polish-Jewish survivors in a displaced persons camp in Föhrenwald, Germany, he immigrated to Canada as an infant and grew up in Montreal and Ottawa, where he began training as a child actor with the Ottawa Little Theatre. Rubinek is globally recognized for his iconic character acting in films like Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven, True Romance, and The Contender, as well as major television roles in Frasier, Warehouse 13, and Hunters. Beyond the screen, he is a gifted playwright whose debut dark comedy, Terrible Advice, premiered to critical acclaim at London’s Menier Chocolate Factory in 2011. Rubinek has also made enduring literary and documentary contributions, notably authoring the powerful 1988 nonfiction book So Many Miracles, which, along with his accompanying documentary film, intimately chronicles his parents’ miraculous hidden survival during the Holocaust.
