Margaret Drabble

Dame Margaret Drabble DBE (born June 5, 1939) is an internationally celebrated English novelist, biographer, and literary critic whose sharp, socially observant fiction has established her as a defining chronicle of contemporary British life. Born in Sheffield and educated on a scholarship at Newnham College, Cambridge, she briefly joined the Royal Shakespeare Company as an actor before dedicating her full creative focus to literature.
