Author profile

James Dashner

James Dashner (born 1972) is an American author whose work for young readers and young adults is chiefly associated with science-fiction and adventure fiction. He is best known for the Maze Runner series, which his publisher identifies as a #1 New York Times bestselling series; film adaptations of its first three novels were released between 2014 and 2018.

Dashner’s bibliography also includes the Mortality Doctrine series and the 13th Reality series. The catalog title The Fever Code, published by Delacorte Press in 2016, is a prequel set in the Maze Runner world, returning to the origins of Thomas and the construction of the Maze. His official site lists The Infinite Glade, published in 2025, as the concluding volume of the Maze Cutter trilogy.

In 2008, Dashner received the Whitney Award for Best Youth Fiction for The 13th Reality. His sustained readership is reflected in the continuing expansion of the Maze Runner setting across novels and screen adaptations.
