Author profile

Guy Kawasaki

Guy Kawasaki (born 1954) is an American author, entrepreneur, and technology marketer associated with the development of “evangelism” as a business role. Born in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, he studied psychology at Stanford University and earned an MBA from UCLA. His early work for Apple’s Macintosh division in the 1980s made him a prominent advocate for the computer among software developers; he later returned to the company as an Apple Fellow.

Kawasaki subsequently combined writing, speaking, investing, and advisory work. He helped found the venture-capital firm Garage Technology Ventures and the content-aggregation site Alltop, and later served as a special adviser to the Motorola division of Google. His books address entrepreneurship, innovation, marketing, publishing, and technology. They include The Macintosh Way, The Art of the Start 2.0, Enchantment, and the catalog title Reality Check, a collection of practical observations on subjects including competition, customer service, innovation, and marketing.

He is chief evangelist of Canva and creator of the Remarkable People podcast, which features conversations with guests from varied fields. Kawasaki has also served as a trustee of the Wikimedia Foundation. Babson College awarded him an honorary doctorate, recognizing his contributions to entrepreneurship and business communication.
