Douglas MacKinnon is an American author and political commentator whose fiction and nonfiction draw on experience in public affairs. According to his Simon & Schuster author page, he served as a White House writer for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush, and later worked in a joint command at the Pentagon. The publisher also identifies him as a newspaper contributor and the author of the memoir Rolling Pennies in the Dark.
MacKinnon’s early nonfiction included Footprints, a book built around reflections by the twelve men who walked on the Moon.
